Eligibility criteria

Oman Medical College (OMC) is a reputed private medical school in the Sultanate of Oman. The curriculum and academic leadership are provided by the West Virginia University School of medicine in the United States of America. Premed and medical education at OMC is closely monitored by the Oman Ministry of Higher Education. The Government supports the College by providing developmental funding, sponsorship of students and clinical teaching facilities at the 400-bed Sohar Regional Hospital

Applicants should possess a Thanawia Amma (Higher Secondary) Certificate or its equivalent qualification, in the science stream. Applicants to the premedical program should have Thanawia Amma scores of at least 85% overall and/or 80% in the science subjects (biology, chemistry, and physics). Pharmacy applicants should have at least 80% overall and/or 75% in science subjects.

For the B.Pharm Evening Program those who have graduated from the Assistant Pharmacy Program or have obtained a BS degree in Chemistry, Biology or Medical Laboratory Sciences. These students will receive transfer credit for basic courses and offer placement test in some advanced courses; however, the remaining curriculum will be identical to that offered in the regular program.

Direct Admission to Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) Degree Program

Exceptionally well-prepared students, who have completed three or more years of college coursework with a strong focus in biological sciences, may wish to apply for advanced placement and direct transfer into the M.D. Degree Program. Candidates should have earned a minimum of three years of college level credit (90 semester hours), including one full year of Zoology or Biology (with lab); General or Inorganic Chemistry (with lab); Organic Chemistry (with lab); Physics (with lab). In addition, candidates should have adequate proficiency in English as evidenced by, TOEFL or IELTS scores. Applications for direct admission may be sent to:
