It
is with great pleasure and honor that I welcome our students to the
Sohar Campus of Oman Medical College. The Sohar Campus is built and
equipped to provide the best facilities including Sohar Regional
Hospital .
A wireless campus, unique in that each and every student has his or
her own laptop, and opens up new frontiers in the learning progress.
We have an interesting and stimulating program which mirrors the
program of our academic partners at West Virginia School of Medicine.
Our teaching methods are innovative and provide our students with an
excellent academic program. |
|
Our faculty
are highly motivated and form the backbone of our programs. Our
philosophy is to produce doctors who will be dedicated to serve the
Sultanate of Oman and the International Community at large.

Dean's Message - Bowshar Campus |
|
My appointment as
Dean of the Pre-Medical and Pharmacy campus of Oman Medical College in
July of 2006 has provided me with the honor and privilege of working with
an excellent and devoted faculty and staff at Oman Medical College. As
Dean, I will continue the ground-breaking work of the first dean, Dr.
Michael Johnson, who established a stimulating, challenging and caring
learning environment for students at the college. Every member of the
college faculty and staff is committed to our mission to educate medical
doctors and pharmacists of the highest quality dedicated to serving the
healthcare needs of the international community and the Sultanate of Oman. |

Oman Medical
College accepted its first class of pre-medical students in September of
2001 and its first class of pharmacy students in September of 2003. Since
those beginning years, the student body has grown dramatically such that
in 2006 almost 400 students are enrolled in the pre-medical and pharmacy
programs at the Muscat campus and160 medical students at the Sohar campus.
Over 80% of these students are Omanis in keeping with our goal of training
primarily students from the gulf area; however, students from 25 other
countries including India, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Sudan, Bangladesh, and
Nigeria are currently enrolled. The different cultural backgrounds of our
students and faculty from around the world provide a rich environment for
the study of medicine and pharmacy in a truly international community.
Our programs have continued to develop and mature throughout the past five
years and we look forward to graduating our first class of physicians and
of pharmacists in 2008. The faculty and staff at Oman Medical College
feel that we are meeting our goal of training quality physicians and
pharmacists for the 21st century. I look forward to your joining us. |
